ECOPATH helps European SMEs become sustainable by using ESG frameworks and promoting the circular economy, aligning with the EU Green Deal. It provides tools and training for green skills and Circular Economy principles.
Project Background
The project’s main motivation arises from the need to support efforts against increasing climate adversities by building pathways for European enterprises to become more sustainable. This need has become a priority under the EU Green Deal. In this context, the European Commission is establishing stricter reporting requirements for companies in EU Member States through the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
One of the approaches that emerge to enable companies to assess their impact are Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks. In relation to that, the circular economy (CE) has an important role to play and is one of the 6 environmental objectives under the EU Taxonomy.
ECOPATH highlights the potential of the Circular Economy to aid an ESG transition. Staff members of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be equipped to better understand how to improve their companies’ environmental impact through circular approaches. Within the scope of the project, tools will be developed that support educators/trainers in transferring relevant green skills and knowledge on the CE and ESG to adult learners.
Objectives
1) support SMEs to be better prepared for improving their environmental impact and understand the growing demands for this.
2) improve the knowledge and skills of current and future SME professionals/adult learners who wish to work within sustainability and management to better place them in the labour market.
3) build the capacity of adult educators/trainers to better integrate knowledge related to the CE, ESG frameworks, and hands-on methodologies in ADU learning opportunities
Planned project results
1) A curriculum that will be the basis for the development of the CE ESG Gamebook and its Facilitation Guide, including micro-credentials
2) A Gamebook (in English, Swedish, Croatian, Spanish)
